Three members of the family gospel group The Nelons—Kelly Nelon Clark, her husband Jason Clark, and their daughter Amber Nelon Kistler—were killed in a plane crash in Wyoming on Friday afternoon. The crash also claimed the lives of four others, including the pilot.

The family was en route to the Gaither Homecoming Cruise to Alaska when the crash occurred near Recluse, Wyoming, according to a statement from the Gaither Management Group. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the incident, noting an autopilot issue may have contributed to the crash.

Autumn Nelon Streetman, Kelly and Jason’s other daughter and also a group member, was not on the plane. She expressed gratitude for the support her family has received: “We appreciate your continued prayers, love, and support as we navigate the coming days.”

The crash also claimed the lives of Amber’s husband Nathan Kistler, assistant Melodi Hodges, pilot Larry Haynie, and his wife Melissa. Haynie was a respected figure, serving as chairman of the Georgia Department of Corrections Board.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp expressed his sorrow, highlighting Haynie’s contributions to public safety. “Larry’s impact on our state will not be forgotten,” Kemp said, calling for prayers for all those affected by the tragedy.

The Nelons have a storied career, recording over 35 albums and earning numerous accolades, including a Grammy nomination and Dove Awards. They were inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2016.
