Things are not adding up

As much as this sports organization wants to protect one of its biggest stars/moneymakers, things are not adding up in the investigation at all.

Shohei Ohtani

Ippei Mizuhara

Ippei Mizuhara, former interpreter for Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani, faces federal bank fraud charges for allegedly stealing over $16 million from Ohtani.

Mizuhara, who helped Ohtani set up his bank account, accessed it online and directed unauthorized transfers to fund his gambling habit.

Ohtani is considered a victim, cooperating fully with the investigation.

Mizuhara is accused of making 19,000 bets totaling over $142 million, with losses exceeding $40 million. He is expected to surrender to authorities.

The probe also implicates others involved in illegal gambling activities.

The scandal led to Mizuhara’s termination from the Dodgers, with MLB launching an investigation.

Ohtani, shocked by the betrayal, denied involvement in sports betting.

The allegations came to light after media reports, prompting legal action by Ohtani’s attorneys.
