One of the reasons the former mogul is hiding out in another country is to make sure none of the women he s3.xually assaulted can collect on their judgements.

Russell Simmons owes $3 million to three women—Sil Lai Abrams, Sherri Abernathy, and Wendy Carolina Franco—after failing to pay them settlements agreed upon in November 2023.

The women filed legal documents in New York on Wednesday to expedite the collection process.

Simmons had agreed to pay $1.27 million each to Abrams and Abernathy, and $515,000 to Franco for claims related to personal injuries, but missed the October 1 deadline.

These settlements did not involve Simmons admitting any wrongdoing.

Abrams, a domestic violence activist, previously accused Simmons of raping her in 1994 and appeared in the 2020 documentary On the Record about Black women’s experiences in hip-hop.

Simmons has faced accusations of s3.xual assault from over 20 women spanning nearly a decade. Despite acknowledging “compromising situations” in a podcast interview, he claimed to have passed nine lie detector tests regarding violent conduct allegations.
