The murdering rapper bought a key to the city.
The key was snatched back, but the money the mayor got both publicly and privately is not going anywhere.

Mayor: Brandon Johnson
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson recently declined to say if he would return a $150,000 donation from rapper Lil Durk, who was arrested in connection with a serious murder-for-hire plot.
Mayor, who received the donation after meeting with Durk twice, expressed that he wouldn’t rush to judge the rapper without a fair trial.
Lil Durk, a prominent figure in Chicago’s drill music scene, is accused of plotting against rival rapper Quando Rondo in a revenge attempt for the 2020 death of King Von, another Chicago rapper. Federal charges brought against Durk and five of his associates include serious accusations that could lead to the death penalty if convicted.
In recent years, Durk has worked to change his image, speaking out against violence, promoting his faith, and supporting community causes. Johnson pointed to Durk’s efforts to find “his righteous path” as one reason for holding off on any decision about the donation. Despite this, some city officials are distancing themselves from Durk’s foundation and honors previously granted to him.
