Bookmakers are taking a hard look at a recent tennis match because of some very unusual bets placed within the final two hours prior to the match.

Yulia Putintseva

Iga Świątek

Poland’s Iga Świątek, the world No. 1 in women’s tennis, was defeated by unranked Yulia Putintseva from Kazakhstan in the third round of Wimbledon.

Świątek, known for her dominance on clay courts with five Grand Slam titles, struggled with errors, ultimately losing 3-6, 6-1, 6-2.

Despite this setback, Świątek remains the top-ranked player, having held the position for 110 weeks since 2022.

Putintseva advances to the fourth round to face Jeļena Ostapenko, while Świątek exits Wimbledon earlier than anticipated.
