Russell Simmons

Bali

Russell Simmons allegedly owes over $3 million in settlements to two women who accused him of s**xual assault, despite agreeing to pay in 2023.

Def Jam co-founder Russell Simmons is accused of failing to pay over $3 million in settlements to two women, Toni Sallie and Alexia Norton Jones, who accused him of s*xual assault. Court filings reveal Simmons agreed to the confidential settlements in 2023 but has allegedly only paid $60,000 to Sallie, who is now demanding the remaining $2.94 million plus interest.

Sallie’s agreement, finalized in November 2023, barred both parties from discussing the claims publicly. Meanwhile, Jones, who settled for $300,000 under a Jane Doe pseudonym, also claims Simmons has not fully paid. Though Simmons did not admit wrongdoing in either case, the women have now filed confessions of judgment in New York County Supreme Court.

Simmons, who has been living in Indonesia, was previously accused of using a retirement visa to avoid legal action in the U.S. A judge is now reviewing whether he can be sued in New York despite his claim of being a “stateless” citizen.

Russell Simmons Served Defamation Lawsuit in Bali

Russell Simmons, long rumored to have moved to Bali to evade legal trouble, was recently served a defamation lawsuit while at a wellness resort. Process server Daniel John Ayoub located Simmons on March 5 and handed him the lawsuit filed by former music executive Drew Dixon, who claims Simmons defamed her after she accused him of rape in 1995.

Simmons has faced multiple s*xual assault allegations over the years. In 2017, he was criticized for defending WME agent Adam Venit against assault claims made by actor Terry Crews. In December 2023, he publicly addressed the accusations, stating he passed nine lie detector tests to prove his innocence.

Despite his denial, Simmons’ past remains under scrutiny. The Los Angeles Times reported allegations that he and director Brett Ratner assaulted multiple women, including a 17-year-old. Meanwhile, Dixon, who has also accused L.A. Reid of sual harassment, is reportedly in settlement talks.

Simmons maintains his innocence, but the lawsuit adds to his ongoing legal battles and public controversy.
